In 1990, our founder, Janet Salisbury, made the move from cancer research to consultancy, writing and editing. In 1999, Biotext was established and quickly filled a niche for communicating complex information for government departments, non-government organisations and academic institutions.
Today, our team come from various science and communication backgrounds, and share a passion for making complex information accessible, understandable and engaging.
Janet has a PhD in experimental oncology from Manchester University, United Kingdom, and worked in cancer research at St George's Hospital Medical School, London (1976–82), the University of Melbourne, Department of Medicine (1983–84) and the John Curtin School of Medical Research (1986–88). She has a particular interest in evidence-based practice and was one of the first people in the world to advocate applying evidence-based medicine methods to environmental management in 2002. In 2020, she founded the Women's Climate Congress.
