Summary
We partnered with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to create a suite of clear, user‑centred communication products that help GPs guide patients to the right mental health support.
The infographic poster and supporting fact sheets clearly described the complex mix of Australian Government‑funded mental health supports available to patients. The challenge lay in presenting nuanced services and eligibility pathways in a format that was clinically accurate, easy to use in fast‑paced consultations, and genuinely helpful for patients who don't require formal support sessions but aren't eligible for Medicare benefits under the Better Access initiative.
We delivered an online infographic that was accurate, trusted and tailored to diverse audiences, alongside clear, printable fact sheets for individual services — giving GPs practical tools to support patients during consultations and improving patients' understanding of their support options and how to access them.
Our approach
Our strategic consultancy ensured that business, stakeholder and user needs were all met. We staged the delivery of drafts to align with stakeholder meetings, capturing feedback directly from GP representatives through multiple rounds of collaboration with the department's internal committees and consumer representatives.
Our information design expertise let us plan and write high‑impact content that translated detailed health and policy information into practical, accessible products — clinically accurate, yet easy to use in the middle of a busy consultation.
Our visual design combined evidence‑based content design with deep experience in health sector collaboration, supporting user engagement and producing an infographic that gave GPs confidence and gave patients clarity — bridging information gaps that had previously limited access to timely support.
Outputs
Biotext were exceptional to deal with. From the project initiation meeting right through to delivery, they maintained the utmost professionalism while balancing a great sense of humour and approachability that made them very easy to work with. The job itself was anything but straightforward — but the product we ended up with was very highly regarded across the board and will be a very useful resource for GPs and their patients into the future. — Jen Gilrane, Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
